I am totally blown away by the artistry and technical expertiese that it must have taken to turn the "blue" sow's ear into a silk (well at least cotton) purse!

The problem I see is that this might encourage others to prevail on you to work the same "magic" on their musical abortions.

Are you up to it?

I guess, for a price, eh!

That is a truly fine reworking of a masterpiece. Both stand on their own as twisted genius.
What of the apocryphal "Chicago, My Home", any chance you could persuade the release of this track?

Note from Mike: Our lawyers are negotiating terms right now to gain access to the legendary lost track, "Chicago, My Home"

I must commend you on (among other things) being true to the original vocal recording, and restraining yourself from doing any pitch correction on it...

Joshi wrote:

Well, I was determined not to download WinAmp, but I caved in for the purpose of hearing the song and its remix.
And I can honestly say it was worth it. Wow. The mind wobbles.

Malcolm wrote:

LOL, and the music was Good too. Quality and all.
Was it mastered? LOL

Mike, When I heard the original, I couldn't believe anything could be that bad outside of a bar setting. So bad it was funny. Your remix is just unbelievable. A work of art. Now it's hilarious and fairly listenable. My hat is off to you.

Samantha wrote:

How in the world you made THAT listenable is a mystery. You, Sir, are a genius. Funny, funny, funny!

Dan wrote:

mike,
Too funny -- great job! This (newsgroup) may have to rethink the phrase "you can't polish a turd."

All that work, and it sounds like it was tossed off in a wonderful burst of first-take inspiration...this must be the magic of the recording studio!
Thanks, Mike. This is a great way to start the day.
Now who wants to do the trip-hop version?

Someone replied to my rec.audio.pro message:
<< I wasted an evening taking the BLUE song and adding instruments to it >>

The evening was not wasted!

I think "Stunned" is the word I'm looking for.

Great job!!!

You are a God.

Everyone around here has a new hero. You. You spent eight hours recording it, but we've spent as much time listening to it. We've been playing the original for the past two - odd years and it never even occurred to us to "work it up".

Listen, if your skills have been honed by previous experience my heart goes out to you. : )

FUNNY!

That was fab! Absolutely brilliant. I had a hard time not laughing at the original, but your remake was just _too_ much.

8 hours well spent- get it on the next rec.audio.pro compilation!

Andrew wrote:

I just heard your production on "Blue". Hilarious. Job well done. Some of the dialog near the end is a bit low and can't be heard. (one on left channel, and the center channel stuff) But, with the original in hand, we get it! I'm going to share it with a co-worker who's out today.

Note from Mike: This issue has been addressed, the current blue2000.mp3 has been modified to adjust the dialog levels and overall vocal EQ.
